Another addition to my shots of eastbounds at Patrick, UP 8254 roars through Patrick on the Nevada subdivision with a lengthy stack train bound for Salt Lake City.

UP 2578 gains speed heading east from Sparks after receiving a crew change about a half hour earlier.

BNSF 108 and 144 speed across the steel bridge at Patrick with the LC505J. I don’t recall them running on Saturdays regularly, so this was a surprise.

UP 5582 and EMDX 1602 (Tier 4 SD70ACe Demo) lead an eastbound empty coal train over the Truckee River at Patrick, Nevada on a beautiful late summer morning.

Racing into the rising sun, an eastbound manifest crosses the Truckee River and leaves the full moon behind it.

Running long hood forward with an ex-SP unit, the UP local out of Sparks heads east toward Fernley as it passes Patrick on the Nevada Subdivision.

Following the reefer Z out of town is the UP 5866 on the point of a "no-grainer" (empty grain train). The train is picking up speed as it begins the long race through northern Nevada.

Train #6, the Eastbound California Zephyr crosses the Truckee River at Patrick, as it starts it's journey across the Nevada Desert.

About 20 minutes out of Sparks, NV, Amtrak E9 425, an ex-UP unit, is leading #6 East out into Nevada. Crossing Donner Pass the train was led by an ex-SP FP7, which was left in Sparks.
